Master’s degree students typically join the program after several years of teaching in public or private school settings and already possess music teacher certification. Frost School of Music students study directly with music faculty who are noted for their outstanding teaching, research, performance, and leadership in the field. The program is customized to suit individual student interests, allowing for either research or practical orientation in focus. The music education program prepares advanced students to become deep thinkers, dynamic teachers, and innovative leaders. Graduates of the program have become leaders in music education in K-12, preschool, and community settings as music teachers or music administrators around the world.
